This tower was built in the 13th century by the Counts of Eppan and over time saw various owners and renovations. In 1635, it belonged to the Lords of the Court of Sarnthein, and in 1777, it served as a prison. Following restoration work in 2022, the tower was opened to the public for guided tours.
In addition to its many traditions and celebrations, the valley is also known for its famous village festival. Traditional costume processions, the famous cattle market, and a large festival are part of the event. The craftsmanship of Sarntal is admired worldwide, particularly for its exquisite leather embroidery.
Every year, at the Christmas Market in Sarnthein 20 Christmas trees are beautifully decorated in the heart of the village. Exhibitors present local craftsmanship and high-quality products from Sarntal, while a variety of delicacies await visitors to enjoy food and drink.
